Announcing the 2025 Annual SPSP Sexuality Pre-Conference!
September 16, 2024 by Merissa Prine
We’re thrilled to announce the next annual SPSP Sexuality Pre-Conference, which will take place next February, just before the Society for Personality and Social Psychology’s annual meeting. This will be our twelfth event, and we’re eager to continue the tradition!
The SPSP Sexuality Pre-Conference will be held in Denver, Colorado on February 20th, 2025. The theme will be “Rocky Mountain High: Sex, Drugs, and Science.” This theme was chosen because Colorado was the first state to legalize recreational marijuana, and Denver led the way in decriminalizing psilocybin. These substances have been gaining attention in recent years for their potential applications in sex therapy and their broader impact on sexual experiences.
Dr. Jim Grigsby, Clinical Health Psychology Professor at the University of Colorado Denver will be our keynote speaker for the event. Dr. Grigsby studies cognitive neuroscience/neuropsychology, and one of his main research interests has been on the psychotherapeutic uses and mechanisms of psychedelic drugs.
The pre-conference will follow the same format as previous years with a variety of different presentation formats including single presenter talks, data blitzes (brief research talks), and a poster session. Attendees are encouraged to submit proposals and present on their latest research. Submissions are open to scholars at all levels. To the extent possible, we encourage presentations that align with the conference theme, but presentations covering any area of sex research are welcome.
To learn more about the upcoming pre-conference, including information on registering and/or submitting a presentation, please visit this site. Submissions are due on October 17th, 2024.
Note that registration for the main SPSP conference is not required to attend the pre-conference, but participants are encouraged to attend both.
We look forward to seeing you in Denver in February for an exciting day of research on sex, drugs, and science! #SexAtSPSP #SPSP2025
