Announcing the 11th Annual SPSP Sexuality Pre-Conference!

We are pleased to announce the eleventh annual SPSP Sexuality Pre-Conference! It will be held next February prior to the annual meeting of the Society for Personality and Social Psychology. Our last decade of pre-conferences was wildly successful and we are excited to further build on this tradition.

The next SPSP Sexuality Pre-Conference will take place on Thursday, February 8, 2023. The theme will be “The War on Sex.”  This theme was chosen in response to accelerating legislative threats to sex education, sex research, LGBTQ+ rights, and reproductive rights. Several US states have enacted restrictions on the information students can be taught about sex, access to abortion, the rights of sexual and gender minorities, and the ability of sex researchers to even ask questions.

We are also pleased to announce that the pre-conference will feature an incredible keynote address from Dr. Justin Garcia, Executive Director of the Kinsey Institute and Ruth N. Hall Professor of Gender Studies at Indiana University.

As in previous years, there will be a sex data blitz in which a selected group of pre-conference attendees (advanced graduate students and faculty) will present some of their latest research findings in brief. This is always one of the highlights of the day! There will also be a symposium featuring longer talks, as well as the opportunity to present research in a poster format.

If you’re already planning to attend SPSP, this is a great way to add some sex research to your program. And if you’re a sex educator, researcher, or therapist who doesn’t normally attend SPSP, this pre-conference is a great excuse to come check it out!

Although you do not need to register for the main SPSP conference in order to attend our pre-conference, we encourage you to attend both because your pre-conference attendance entitles you to a discount on registration for the main conference.
