Things You Probably Never Knew About Penises

October 14, 2020 by Justin Lehmiller

What is the average amount of semen a man produces? Where does semen actually come from anyway? Why do men ejaculate in spurts instead of a stream? Why is semen thick and viscous when it exits the body, be becomes thin and watery within a few minutes?

You’ll find the answers to these questions and more in the video below, produced by Dr. Paul Joannides, author of one of my favorite sex books, The Guide To Getting It On. There are a lot of myths about how things actually work down there, such as the popular misconception that semen comes entirely from the testicles. In reality, it doesn’t—the testicles themselves actually contribute just a couple of drops, with most of the seminal fluid being produced by other structures in the reproductive system.
