Video: Transforming Gender

June 3, 2015 by Justin Lehmiller

In the last few weeks, Caitlyn Jenner has become the public face of the transgender community around the world. Jenner’s courageous decision to undergo her transition in the public eye has undoubtedly helped many people better understand and accept trans persons; however, it is important to keep in mind that the trans community is incredibly diverse and not all transgender persons have the same level of fame, financial means, and support as Jenner. In light of this, I wanted to share a documentary entitled Transforming Gender, which profiles eleven transgender persons living in Canada. They represent an extremely diverse group of individuals (they actually range in age from 11-90!), and each has their own unique story. Check out the video in full –it’s about 44 minutes, but worth every one. Below is the trailer.
